A teaser is out for the Korean remake of J-drama Liar Game!
Even though I’ve been away from this blog for far too long, it’d be a shame if I didn’t share this. (Hopefully things will be back to normal after this year–life!)
The J-drama and it’s two seasons were certainly an addiction of mine with it’s plot and characters. If you aren’t familiar with the series, I’ll try and catch you up:
Liar Game was a drama starring Matsuda Shota and Erika Toda based on a manga of the same name. The plot involves the naive and pure heroine, Nao Kanzaki (Toda), being unwillingly launched into a game after being tricked and fighting to come out without a massive price to pay. The game—the Liar Game—is quite literally a series of psychologically challenging puzzles that involve you having to use great problem-solving and yes, lying to come out of. All for a chance to win millions! If not, you literally have to pay back those millions and go into debt (I told you it was a massive price). She enlists the help of a genius ex-con, Akiyama Shinichi (Matsuda), to help her through the game however, so she’s got an ace in the hole. BUT, she can’t lie!
It’s honestly the best thing ever. The Korean version stars Lee Sang Yoon as the ex-con, Kim So Eun as the naive heroine, and Shin Sung Rok, in what seems to be, an expanded game-master role. Initially, I had my doubts about Lee Sang Yoon’s casting but seeing him in the teaser, he is definitely giving the same vibes Matsuda Shota did. I can’t help but feel excited for this!
The trouble starts on the 20th of this month!
